Keep Fit
Wednesday 10am to 11am Starts Wednesday 12th Sept. 2018 Newry Sports Centre This activity is provided by Newry Sports Centre, not by U3A. It is specifically for the over 50s. Most of the attendees are U3A members and so we include it here as an activity that we would encourage our members to avail of. Cost is £2.70 per session (with a Leisure link card) (you must show your N&M Council Leisure Link card at reception. This card also entitles you to free swimming in both Newry and Kilkeel. The card costs £3.30, valid for one year, and can be purchased at the Sports Centre reception desk.) |
This is a mixed male & female group, known as the ‘Over 50s keep Fit’ – specifically aimed at the older age group. It consists of 30 minutes of circuit training in the gym under supervision, followed by 30 minutes in the Pulse Fitness Suite upstairs. There are a variety of modern exercise machines available to use with an instructor on hand to assist - go at your own pace.
Exercise is the single most important action you can take to improve the strength of your bones. It also reduces the risk of cancer, back pain, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, the risk of having a fall, and dementia.
There is no tutor as this is not a U3A activity, but quite a few of those who attend are also members of Newry U3A.
We encourage our members to avail of this facility and be aware of the benefits of regular exercise to keep us healthy as we grow older.
